In
recent years, universities, cities, and states increasingly struggle with
demands to remove symbols of the Confederacy versus demands, or even state
laws, to leave them be. That struggle tragically
includes the Charlottesville, Virginia protests. These symbols are part of history, but a
history many do not want honored or observed in the public square. Three panelists provide insight and opinions
on the controversies. Selika
Ducksworth-Lawton, UW-Eau Claire history professor; Bob Zeidel UW-Stout history
professor, and Shane Miller, UW-Stout Applied Social Science student. Patrick Guilfoile, UW-Stout Provost and Vice
Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs, moderates.
