A panel discussion on race, inequality, and civil rights in an era of militarized policing. Panelists will give brief presentations and lead a discussion about the police shooting of Michael Brown and the ensuing uprising in Ferguson, MO. The discussion will focus on the questions raised by this incident, including race, inequality, the militarization of police tactics in the United States, and the intersections of militarism and racism. Panelists include professors Tina Lee, anthropology; Chris Marshall, history; David Seim, history; and Jim Handley, geography and Peace Studies.
