On Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 7 p.m. the UW-Stout Blue Devil Jazz Orchestra will present a concert in Harvey Hall Theatre under the direction of Aaron M. Durst. In honor of Duke Ellington’s 118th birthday, several compositions by Ellington will be performed including “Caravan,” “In A Mellow Tone,” “Do Nothing Till You Hear From Me,” and a signature song for the Ellington Orchestra, “Take the ‘A’ Train” written by Billy Strayhorn. Compositions by other composers will also be included to present an evening of music in a variety of jazz styles to appeal to listeners of jazz from every era. Joining in the performance will be vocalist Christina Scinto, the Blue Devil Jazz Project, and the Jazz Embers jazz combo.
