Journalist and author Maya Rao
will talk about her new book Great
American Outpost: Dreamers, Mavericks, and the Making of an Oil Frontier,
which looks at the recent boom and bust of oil drilling in North Dakota. Great
American Outpost is a surreal, lyrical work of narrative nonfiction that
portrays how the largest domestic oil discovery in half a century transformed a
forgotten corner of the American West into a crucible of breakneck capitalism.
Rao is a Washington correspondent for the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. The event
is free and open to the public.
