SHIFT! This Fall’s campus-wide read, DuBois’ The Souls of Black Folk, introduces the
idea of Double Consciousness, a divided view of the self that can lead to a
fractured identity for members of minority populations. When one no longer sees
from just one perspective, such “two-ness” may be as disorienting as double
vision. It also can expand a person’s awareness. In this interactive seminar,
learn more about Double Consciousness and ways that your own intersectional
identities can develop a more inclusive workplace. ** Feel free to attend even before you read
the book! **
