Free speech is
important to student learning and faculty academic freedom, yet rules are
needed to ensure productive classroom discussions. What rules should apply to the classroom
speech of faculty and students? How should
we balance free speech with civility and diversity in the classroom? Where should we draw the lines? Panelists addressing the issues include
UW-Stout professors Lopa Basu (English), Amanda Brown (Communication Studies),
Padraig Gallagher (Philosophy), and Jeff Sweat (Sociology). Philosophy professor Jerry Kapus
moderates.
